From tiny Texas honky-tonks to festivals and massive arena concerts, country fans love the Two-Step (also called Texas Two Step). Learn the basic step, underarm turn, side-by-side moves and promenade, then move on to some fun and fancy combinations. Learn how to twirl a partner—or be twirled—as you move around the floor. You’ll have a blast! Though this is a partner dance with a leader and follower, you are welcome to sign up without a partner for our lessons.
For most people and most situations, group classes are an ideal way to learn to dance.
Group classes usually run six or eight weeks. Each week you add new steps to your repertoire, while reviewing what you learned in previous classes. You have practice time, and get to meet other people to dance with. As the class progresses, you become more confident and comfortable with the steps.
Most group classes expect you to attend for the full session since each lesson is built on the previous week’s material. Beginner classes teach you the fundamentals of the dance. Intermediate classes add new moves while stressing the technique and styling that are characteristic of each dance.
$125 for each 8-week class (no drop-ins). Register online at Arlington Community Education.
